A slow Sunday morning, step by step

No phone for the first hour, good coffee and a table set for one. A small weekly ritual.

Coffee, a knitted throw and green leaves on a wooden table

Most mornings are a rush. One morning a week does not have to be. Here is the small ritual we keep on Sundays.

Make the coffee by hand

A pour-over takes four minutes and makes you stand still for all of them. Warm the cup first so the coffee stays hot.

Set the table, even for one

A linen napkin, a proper cup and saucer and something to read. It takes thirty seconds and changes how breakfast feels.

Leave the phone in another room

For the first hour, at least. The news will still be there. The light through the window will not.
